Color Club All About Color Collection

Wednesday, March 21, 2012
I recently bought this Color Club collection at Ross and wanted to post swatches while it is still available. The collection is not new, I assume it is from 2010 based on the copyright date on the back. No names are listed on the bottles or the packaging and my attempts to contact Color Club resulted in no response. I was about to give up on finding names when Kirsten from Geeky Owl posted her Ross Haul which included this collection. Much to my amazement she had names listed! Long story short, Color Club provided the names in response to a question on their Facebook page. Yay! Thank you Kirsten :)

Color Club - Cadillac Red
A classic fire engine red with a jelly finish. Application was good, no streaking or pulling. A pleasant surprise is that this jelly is opaque in just two coats. Love the color! It was the star of this manicure less than a week ago :)

Color Club - Sugar Sheer
A soft creamy pink. The color is pretty, but the formula leaves something to be desired. It is opaque in just two coats, but needed three to even out the streaks and bald spots. Since the color is not unique, it wouldn't be the first one I reach for when going for this look...

Color Club - In Bloom
A beautiful dusty rose color. Unlike Sugar Sheer, this had a very nice cream formula. No problems with application at all. It is fully opaque in two coats.

Color Club - Rev'd Up
A shimmery metallic purple with blue undertones. I was worried that this would photograph blue, but as you can see, that is not the case. Formula was good, two coats for full coverage. Looking at the swatches I can see a few thin spots that were not visible in real life. The shimmer helps blind you to any imperfections.

Color Club - Overboard
A bright fuchsia cream. It is a bit more purple/fuchsia in real life than these photographs show. The formula is great and I had no problems with application. Two coats for full coverage. This is the polish used in my reinforcement stickers manicure a week ago.

Color Club - Catwalk Queen
A dark vampy plum with a beautiful shimmer. This is very pigmented, opaque in one coat, but I used two to even out the coverage. Great formula and no problems with application. I recently used this polish for a Sunday Stamping challenge.

I bit of a closeup for the shimmer...

Color Club - Trippie Hippie
A bright metallic blue. This came out lighter on the nail than the bottle color. It is an unexpected cold color in a collection that is otherwise filled with warm hues. No complaints on the formula or application. Two coats for full coverage. This is one I really want to try stamping with. For some reason it seems promising.

Overall I'm really pleased with this collection. It has a nice range from light to dark colors. One jelly, three creams and three shimmers. With the exception of Sugar Sheer, they all had great formulas and were opaque in just two coats. I had fun with them as bases for nail art.

I'd love to know what you think of this collection.
Any favorites? :)

Thanks for looking!
