Trick or Treat!

Thursday, October 31, 2013
Happy Halloween Everyone!

Today I would like to show you a manicure that I created quite a while ago, but have not gotten around to posting. I have been sick the past two weeks and my energy for creating manicures is at an all time low. Luckily this candy filled manicure is just perfect for a day which has become synonymous with candy overload...

For this manicure, I created a gradient using Nicole by OPI Candy is Dandy and I Liliac Gumdrops. I stamped using Essence Stamp Me! White and Bundle Monster plate BM-306. Fun and easy...

Here is a look at the gradient before the stamping. To create this gradient, I simply brushed on I Lilac Gumdrops over Candy is Dandy when it was dry. I think because they are textured, this sort of rough gradient still looks good and is much quicker than sponging...

How will you be spending your Halloween?

I will be spending my Halloween at work, leaving my boyfriend home to tend to the trick or treaters. We get lots and lots of them every year. I am sad I won't see all the cute costumes, but also kind of glad I won't have to be jumping up and down every 20 seconds to open the door.

Thanks for looking!

Zombie Nails...

Wednesday, October 30, 2013
Halloween is tomorrow and I want to show you my totally grody zombie manicure. I actually created these earlier this month, right before cutting my nails. Figured I might as well jack up the edges if I'm going to cut them anyway. I got the idea to do zombie nails from this manicure by More Nail Polish. Hope I'm not grossing too many of you out...

I started out this manicure with a nude base polish. Shame on me for not remembering which one, but trust me, you can't see it here anyway. For the rest of the dirt and grime, I used acrylic paint. There is a bit of OPI It All San Andreas's Fault in there for some texture and Barielle Dinner at 8 for the 'blood'...

My boyfriend is grossed out and not impressed, but I happen to think it would be a fun look to go with a zombie costume. What do you think?

Incoco Fright Night...

Tuesday, October 29, 2013
Today I would like to show you another beautiful set of nail polish appliques from Incoco. These nail wraps named Fright Night are namesake for the Incoco Fright Night Halloween collection this year. These are perfect for some quick nail art to get you in the holiday mood...

The set come with 16 double ended polish strips to fit different nail sizes. They come in an airtight package and should be used shortly after opening or they will start to dry out. If you have shorter nails, they can be cut in half allowing you to save some for a second manicure. Since they do dry out, seal them either with a vacuum food packager or in the original package using the included piece of silver tape...

These nail polish strips are easy to work with and apply. They stretch well to fit curvy nails. For application directions please take a look at either my previous Incoco reviews or the Incoco website. These nail appliques are packed full of sparkly glitter for a little bit of fun Halloween bling...

I decided to have a little bit of fun with these strips because I wasn't quite ready to part with the adorable Spooktacular ghosts from yesterday. From my leftover strips I cut out a few little ghosts and added them to today's manicure. They are not the easiest to cut out since they are tiny, but it was worth it...

And these little ghosts keep me company at night! I had a blast wiggling my fingers in the dark and making these cuties "fly"...

Incoco Spooktacular

Monday, October 28, 2013
With Halloween just a few days away, I would like to show you another fun set of nail polish appliques from Incoco named Spooktacular. These are glow in the dark nail strips which feature what are quite possibly the most adorable ghosts ever...

Each set comes with 16 double ended appliques to fit different nail sizes. There is plenty for a full manicure and a bit left to spare. They are sealed in an air tight package and must be used shortly after opening. Application of these strips is quick and easy. If you are not familiar with how to apply them, take a look at my previous Incoco reviews or the Incoco website. I followed the instructions on the package to apply them, except I used acetone to gently remove the strips at the tip rather than file them off...

As far as nail wraps go, these seemed a bit thicker than other Incoco strips, but were still very easy to stretch and perfectly mold to the nail. I'm so in love with these adorable ghosts...

Just look at them glow! Ahh, they are even brighter in reality...

The Graveyard After All This Time...

Friday, October 25, 2013
Today I would like to show you a fun Halloween themed manicure. I got this beautiful gray polish for review along with the 365 Days of Color Horcrux collection last month. I set it aside at the time because it was not part of the collection and it somehow managed to hide from me until now. I'm so glad that I finally saw this little one hiding among all the big polish bottles which clutter my table. It is appropriately named 'After All This Time?' as though to mock me in the fact that I took so long to play with it. It is absolutely perfect for a spooky graveyard manicure that even glows in the dark...

To create this manicure I used a base of 365 Days of Color After All This Time?. Swatches of this beauty are further down in this post. I stamped various images from Bundle Monster plates BM-413 and BM-H08 and Winstonia plate W116. For stamping I used Essence Stamp Me! Black stampy polish....

How fun is that skeleton peeking out from behind the gravestone?

Oh and did I mention that it GLOWS in the dark? That's right, it doesn't just glow in the dark! It GLOWS in the dark!...

After All This Time? is a dove gray jelly loaded with silver and holo glitter. There is definitely a lot more holo glitter than what my camera could capture. This beauty sparkles. It is fairly sheer and took four coats to build up to good coverage. I think next time I will try it over gray undies, but for my first swatches I wanted to show the color by itself. The formula is very nice, no streaking and great glitter distribution. Swatches are with a top coat...

Just look at this glow! It is the brightest glow in the dark polish that I have ever tried! Unlike others I've tried, this one is also most certainly not camera shy!

31DC2013 Day 23 - Inspired by a Movie

Thursday, October 24, 2013
It has been nearly a month since I created my last manicure for the 31 Day Nail Challenge. I think it is about time I picked it back up and tried to finish it. Today I would like to show you my manicure for Day 23 of the challenge, inspired by a movie. Since it is so close to Halloween, I couldn't help but try my hand at the always popular The Nightmare Before Christmas manicure...

Besides a black base of Wet 'n Wild Black Creme, the rest of the manicure is done using acrylic paints. I find it much easier to work with paint for any detail work. I cut one of my brushes down to just a few hairs for some of the really fine lines. I'm quite proud of how this turned out...

Here is the movie poster that I used for inspiration. It looked a lot more blue on my tablet which is why I went with more of a blue tone for my manicure...

OPI Miss Universe Chevron Skittles...

Tuesday, October 22, 2013
I guess I was in the mood to play with striping tape while swatching the OPI Miss Universe lacquers. I wanted to try out different chevron designs so I ended up with a skittle manicure using the three shades in the collection. I'm pretty excited about these since I usually tend to shy away from skittle and skittlette manicures myself, but am always admiring ones created by everyone else...

For this manicure I used a base of OPI I'm Feeling Sashy (dusty lilac purple). Once it was dry, I sectioned off areas of the nail using striping tape and painted them using OPI Miss Uni-verse (dark purple) and This Gown Needs a Crown (silver). I finished the manicure off with a top coat to smooth everything out...

I really love how these all coordinate together. Makes the skittle mani a bit less intimidating for me :)

OPI Miss Universe 2013 Lacquers Swatches and Review

Monday, October 21, 2013
Today I would like to show you the new OPI Miss Universe 2013 nail lacquers. These beautiful shades are inspired by the women in the Miss Universe competition which will be held in early November and aim to give us a bit of that glamour...

OPI I'm Feeling Sashy
A dusty lilac purple cream. This has a nice, easy to apply formula. The only issue I had was getting it to wrap around the tips where it seemed to behave more like a jelly than a cream. Otherwise it provides good coverage at just two coats. Swatches are with no top coat...

Swatch Details
Brand: OPI
Collection: Miss Universe 2013
Color Name/Number: I'm Feeling Sashy, NL U09
Number of coats: 2
Top Coat: No

Free of Formaldehyde, Toluene, Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP)

OPI Miss You-niverse
A blacked plum cream. It is very dark and in some light appears completely black. The plum undertones show under bright natural and artificial light. It has a very rich pigmented formula with smooth application. In most cases you can probably get away with just one coat. I did use two coats for these swatches. No top coat...

OPI This Gown Needs a Crown
A satin metallic silver. It appears to be composed of small metallic particles in a clear base. At three coats, as seen below, it provides full coverage. It is meant to be worn without a top coat for a satin finish. The final finish feels very smooth and soft to the touch...

Each bottle of This Gown Needs a Crown comes with a little crown stretchy ring for a fun accent...
