Nail-aween Challenge Day 10: Halloween Manicure

Wednesday, October 31, 2012
Happy Halloween Everyone!!

Today is the final day of the Nail-aween challege and gives the freedom to create any Halloween themed manicure. I want to show you a manicure that I actually created with the Bundle Monster contest in mind. The contest was held earlier this moth and is now over. Even though I made the manicure in time to enter, I changed my mind at the last minute and didn't actually submit it. I have been waiting for the perfect opportunity to show it to you and there can't be any better day than Halloween itself!...

The dark and moody background is something of a happy accident. I started out with Essence Chic Reloaded, a great dark green to purple duochrome which I have yet to do proper swatches of. Over that I sponged a mix of Sinful Colors Fiji at the base and Pure Ice Kiss Me Here toward the tips. The whole thing was then covered in a coat of OPI Zom-Body to Love which kind of blended everything and gave it a nice greenish glow that I love...

Since I had the Bundle Monster contest in mind, all the stamping images come from Bundle Monster plates. The stamping was done using Wet 'n Wild Black Creme. The plates used are BM13 (spiderwebs), BM-213 (bats on pinkie), BM-224 (branches over raven, house on ring finger), BM-305 (house on middle finger), BM-323 (raven)...

My favorite part of the manicure is seen when the lights come off. OPI Zom-Body to Love is a glow-in-the-dark polish that I've played with in a few manicures this Halloween, but I think this may be the best result so far...

I've decided to name this manicure The House Next Door, although these are definitely two houses I would not want to live next to. I'd never go out at night for sure...

I hope you are all having a wonderful Halloween!

P.S. Don't forget to take a look at all the other lovelies participating in the challenge...

OPI Just Spotted The Lizard!

Friday, May 25, 2012
To coincide with the release of The Amazing Spider-Man collection, OPI created a quiz to determine whose side you are on... hero or villain. Turns out I'm a villain... with pretty nails. To go with my villain personality, OPI suggested I try Just Spotted the Lizard, My Boyfriend Scales Walls, or Number One Nemesis from the new collection. Is anyone else a little worried that they picked out my three favorite colors from the collection? No, I didn't think so.

To celebrate my new found villain status, I decided to play with one of the suggested colors Just Spotted the Lizard. I applied two coats of the polish and stamped using Essence I Love My Jeans and Bundle Monster plate BM-224. The result is a lizard manicure that I have been wearing for almost a week now and still not tired of it. I think that might be some sort of record for me. As a matter of fact, I'm still wearing it as I type this. :)

I would love to know what you think of this mani!
And... are you a hero or a villain? Have you taken OPI's quiz?

Sunday Stamping: Plate Ending in 4

Sunday, March 4, 2012
I managed to sneak in a manicure for this week's Sunday Stamping Challenge for the facebook group Adventures in Stamping. This week the challenge was to create a manicure using a stamping plate ending in 4. I chose to use Bundle Monster plate BM-224.

The base of the manicure is an un-named Color Club polish. A vampy deep plum color with a nice shimmer. I will have swatches of it up soon. I stamped using a Sally Hansen Color Quick pen in Chrome Rose. I got it from Carolina's giveaway a while back. I'm still going through all the fun stuff she sent me and discovering new gems all the time. This was my first attempt at stamping with the Quick Color pens and all I can say is that it is amazing to stamp with. I wish they would bottle this stuff up, I'd stock up for sure! For some reason I have a fear of the pens drying out. To accent some of the stamped flowers, I added a small yellow rhinestone on each nail...

UPDATE: The Color Club polish is named Catwalk Queen. See swatches here

I would love to know what you think of this. Have you stamped with the Color Quick pens before?

NOTE: This is a scheduled post. I appreciate all your comments and will respond as soon as I return from my trip! Thank you in advance for commenting :D
