Sunday Stamping: The Great Thanksgiving Heist...

Sunday, November 24, 2013
Is seems like ages since the last time I participated in a Sunday Stamping challenge for the group Adventures in Stamping. With the holidays quickly approaching, this week's theme is Thanksgiving or Winter nails. I chose to go with the Thanksgiving theme and I'm happy to present my manicure to you. I have affectionately been referring to it as "The Great Thanksgiving Heist"...

The manicure started out with a base of Nicole by OPI Who Red My Journal??? stamped with Essie Good as Gold using Messy Mansion plate MM19. I recently purchased the Essie Mirror Metallics collection (all except for the silver) for stamping and they all work perfectly! Essie Good as Gold is just slightly lighter, more of a champagne gold, than my favorite Maybelline Bold Gold, but works just as well...

I created stamped decals for the rest of the images. The woodland creatures are from the same Messy Mansion MM19 plate. I stamped with SinfulColors Black on Black and then colored them in using acrylic paints. The pumpkin is also stamped with Black on Black using Bundle Monster plate BM-H11 and colored in using acrylic paint. To give the creatures a bit of a base to stand on, I added gold tips using Good as Gold...

I imagine the little fox sneaking in to steal the pumpkin for a big Thanksgiving celebration in the forest. The two hedgies are standing guard while the theft takes place. The perfect heist, although looks like the hedgie on my pinkie nail is asleep on the job. This is because I used a stamper to stamper technique to flip him and he got distorted in the processes, but I think it turned out even better that way...

Let me know what you think of this manicure!

Thanks for looking!

Nicole by OPI Modern Family Winter 2013

Saturday, November 23, 2013
Hi there! Today I would like to show you the five new Nicole by OPI Modern Family shades added to the collection this holiday season. You can see swatches of the full collection, which was released in the beginning of this year, here and here. The holiday release features three metallic shimmer shades and two glitter toppers to get you into the holiday spirit...

Late Blu-mer
An icy powder blue metallic shimmer. It has a nice formula that is easy to apply. As typical for shimmery shades, it does leave slightly visible brushstrokes. This color is just so pretty, I love it. Swatches are two coats with no top coat...

Swatch Details
Brand: Nicole by OPI
Collection: Modern Family, Winter 2013
Color Name/Number: Late Blu-mer, NI F15
Number of coats: 2
Top Coat: No

Free of Formaldehyde, Toluene, Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP)

Spark the Conversation (over Late Blu-mer)
Square silver holographic glitter in a clear base. I have a love/hate relationship with this polish. I love the square glitter, but I struggled to get 'even' coverage. I ended up with either too few glitters on the nail or too many in one spot. I would suggest dabbing this one on.

Although my camera doesn't show off the holographic effect too well, it certainly doesn't hide in reality. Even a few pieces create a very sparkly effect. For these swatches I used two-ish coats with a top coat...

Hello holo...

Aren't Families Grape?
A dark indigo purple metallic shimmer. On first coat is seems sheer, a purple shimmer in a blackened base. The color builds nicely and is opaque at two coats. I did end up using three coats to make sure the tips were well wrapped. It is like a beautiful jewel. Swatches are with no top coat...

You're My Treasure (Aren't Families Grape?)
Various shapes and sizes of gold holographic glitter in a clear base. Layered over purple it makes me think of Mardi Gras. From a distance it looks a bit like gold flakes. My camera once again ate most of the holographic effect, but in reality it is very prominent. This topper is very pretty and would work well over any polish. I used two-ish coats plus a top coat...

Who Red My Journal???
A burnt reddish orange with a golden metallic shimmer. This color seems to transform depending on the light. Sometimes it appears more red, other times a bit peachy and orange. It has a nice formula and provides wearable coverage at two coats, however, I used three for these swatches. No top coat...

Incoco Fright Night...

Tuesday, October 29, 2013
Today I would like to show you another beautiful set of nail polish appliques from Incoco. These nail wraps named Fright Night are namesake for the Incoco Fright Night Halloween collection this year. These are perfect for some quick nail art to get you in the holiday mood...

The set come with 16 double ended polish strips to fit different nail sizes. They come in an airtight package and should be used shortly after opening or they will start to dry out. If you have shorter nails, they can be cut in half allowing you to save some for a second manicure. Since they do dry out, seal them either with a vacuum food packager or in the original package using the included piece of silver tape...

These nail polish strips are easy to work with and apply. They stretch well to fit curvy nails. For application directions please take a look at either my previous Incoco reviews or the Incoco website. These nail appliques are packed full of sparkly glitter for a little bit of fun Halloween bling...

I decided to have a little bit of fun with these strips because I wasn't quite ready to part with the adorable Spooktacular ghosts from yesterday. From my leftover strips I cut out a few little ghosts and added them to today's manicure. They are not the easiest to cut out since they are tiny, but it was worth it...

And these little ghosts keep me company at night! I had a blast wiggling my fingers in the dark and making these cuties "fly"...

Sunday Stamping: Autumn

Sunday, September 22, 2013
Today it is time for the Sunday Stamping challenge in Adventures in Stamping. The theme today is Autumn nails. I've got just a quick manicure to show you. I didn't create it specifically for the challenge, but it happened to fit the theme and I since I have not had time in the past few days to play around with nail polish and create something new, I figured I would share this one...

I started out with a base of Shimmer Trisha over OPI Lost on Lombard. For the stamping I used Winstonia plate W119 and Maybelline Bold Gold. I should really stock up on Bold Gold because I'm making good use out the small bottle that I have. I'm tempted to stamp everything with it because let's face it... gold just goes with everything and this particular gold works perfectly even over glitter...

Are you all ready for turkey time? Gobble, Gobble! :D

Shimmer Trisha is a clear base packed with a variety of  glitter colors and sizes. It is predominantly on the warmer scale with glitter in orange, gold and copper shades, but it also has beautiful blue glitter peppered throughout for a bit of contrast. I used one generous coat over OPI Lost on Lombard. Swatches are with a top coat...

31DC2013 Day 2 - Orange

Monday, September 2, 2013
Day 2 of the 31 Day Nail Art Challenge calls for an orange manicure and I couldn't help but use some of the Zoya beauties I was swatching last week. You'll definitely be seeing more of them this week...

For this manicure I started out with the beautiful orange PixieDust Dhara. I stamped the deign from Gals plate GA34 using Essence Stamp Me! White. As you can see it is really an amazing stamping white that I reach for time and time again. I just wish it came in a bigger bottle (as with most things from Essence)...

I added a square stud to each nail with superglue, since I don't want to use a topcoat over the PixieDust. The studs I used are 2mm gold studs from The Born Pretty store. They didn't provide quite the accent I was looking for so I painted them green using Zoya Giovanna. The brilliant idea to paint rhinestones with nail polish comes from Drama Queen Nails...

Since we are on the topic of orange polishes, this is a quick comparison of textured orange lacquers that I posted on Instagram recently and thought I would share it here as well. On a side note, come say 'hi' to me on Instagram... @WackyLaki! I'm having so much fun getting to know everyone, seeing their beautiful manicures and interacting in real time!
