Sunday Stamping: Anything Goes...

Sunday, August 18, 2013
I got lucky with this week's Sunday Stamping theme of no restrictuion, free for all, anything goes because I had no time to create a new mani. Instead I would like to show you one that I wore last week while swatching the Barielle Summer Fun Collection. Since it includes stamping, I will consider today's challenge as met...

I am always talking about how well Barielle creams work for stamping and I decided to test it once again with this manicure. I started out with a base of Barielle Berry Go Round, a creamy coral. I stamped over it with a light peach shade of Barielle Peach Popsicle using Bundle Monster plate BM-225. A part of me actually didn't expect it to show up as well as it did since the colors are similar, but I was excited with the result. I like the subtle tone on tone look of it. For my ring finger and thumb I reveresed the colors and used a base of Peach Popsicle stamped with Berry Go Round...

I would love to know what you think of this manicure! Do you like tone on tone stamping?

Mint Mani for TaliaJoy

Saturday, July 20, 2013
I'm a day late with posting this, but I really wanted to take part in Nail Polish Wars' wonderful idea to create a mint manicure in honor of Talia Castellano aka TaliaJoy18. If you have not heard of Talia, she was a beautiful 13 year old girl, a talented make-up and nail artist, honorary Cover Girl and an all around sweetheart who never stopped smiling. Sadly, she lost her battle with cancer last Tuesday. Her last Instagram pic was a mint manicure, so to honor her here this is my mint mani...

I remember watching Ellen DeGeneres' interview with Talia and when Ellen asked her how she stays so positive despite what she is going through, Talia replied with a smile on her face "a little fishy told me 'just keep swimming, just keep swimming...'" A great lesson for all of us.

Although my little fishy does not look like Dori from Nemo who originally spoke those encouraging words, I at least tried to get the coloring right...

For the manicure I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Mint Sorbet followed by a coat of Maybelline Express Finish Sunlight for a bit of gold shimmer. I stamped the seaweed pattern from Bundle Monster plate BM-225 using Barielle Sweet Addiction.

I stamped the fishy from Shany plate SH19 using Essence Stamp Me! Black and colored it in using acrylic paint...

Rest in peace Talia Joy!

Sunday Stamping: Goth with Zoya Dovima

Sunday, June 24, 2012
It is hard to believe that today is once again time for the Sunday Stamping challenge in the group Adventures in Stamping. This week the challenge is a goth manicure in honor of a fellow group member. I really couldn't pass up the chance to do something outside of my comfort zone and I quite like the result. Hope I'm not insulting anyone :)

I started out with a matte black base of Zoya Dovima and stamped over it using Wet 'n Wild Black Creme and Bundle Monster plate BM10 to give it some background texture. The pattern reminded me of crosses.  Next I stamped the ring finger using Bundle Monster plate BM-225 and Pure Ice Silver Mercedes. Two red rhinestones were added for glowing eyes. The rest of the nails were stamped with just the scull from Bundle Monster plate BM-211 and bits of bones from BM-225 using Sally Hansen Ista Dri in Presto Pewter.

The accent nail...

Zoya Dovima is a matte black cream. It does have a shimmer to it which comes out if a top coat is used, however I chose to wear it with no top coat. The formula and application were great. Two coats for full coverage using thicker layers, otherwise it might take three thin ones. It has very good dry time and the matte effect develops as it dries. The matte effect takes longer to show up compared to using just a matte top coat, but is worth the wait. And it doesn't hurt that I absolutely love the stain feel of a matte polish...

Petites Vintage Gray Stamped with Zoya Adina

Tuesday, December 6, 2011
This was originally meant to be for the fashion inspired day 25 of the 31 day challenge, but I ended up posting the Missoni inspired manicure instead. I didn't (and still don't) feel that these photos capture the manicure properly, but I decided to share it with you anyways. I hope you will trust me when I say that the manicure looked better in real life than in these photos :)

For the manicure I used two coats of Petites Color Fever Vintage Gray for the base. I stamped this using Bundle Monster plate BM-225 with Zoya Adina which is a gorgeous purple/green duochrome. The manicure flashed purple and green depending on how the light hit it. The camera for some reason refused to capture any of the green. So in these photos when you see silver in the stamping... think green :D

Do you see the pretty green in the bottle? I swear that was on my nails too... just not in the photos :(

Here was my fashion inspiration. I don't recall exactly where I found this photo, but I'm sure google was involved. Aren't they gorgeous? I need a pair of these in my closet...

Have you ever fought with a camera and lost? I get so frustrated when the photos don't come out right...
