Limited Edition Holiday Trio by Lacquer Lust, Polished by KPT and Serum No. 5

Friday, November 29, 2013
Thanksgiving is over and that means it is finally time for holiday and winter themed manicures. What better way to start than with a limited edition Holiday Trio of indie polishes. This trio is a collaboration between three wonderful indie polish makers, Lacquer Lust, Polished by KPT and Serum No. 5. Between the three of them, this set has it all... holo, thermal, glitter and glow in the dark. What more could you ask for?...

Lacquer Lust Ho Ho Holodays!
An olive green linear holographic shade with a gold shimmer. This is a really unique holographic shade because of that gold shimmer overlay. When the holo hides, the shimmer comes out to play. The photos unfortunately didn't capture much of the shimmer. I love, love, love this color! The holographic effect is just beautiful! It has a very nice formula that is easy to apply. It goes on smooth and provides full coverage at three coats. Swatches are with no top coat...

Oh how I love holographic polishes! I could stare at this all day...

A rose pink to deep berry red thermal shade with gold and purple flakie shimmer. It is a deep berry red when cold and a rose pink when warm. When the fingers are warm and the tips of the nails are cold, it results in beautiful transitions between the two colors. The formula is very nice. It is easy to apply and three coats provides good coverage in the cold state. It dries with a bit of a satin finish, so I used a top coat for these swatches...

In the cold state it is a deep berry red. The gold flakie shimmer is most visible in this state. Can you see the scattered purple flecks too? So pretty...

A state of transition. I've discovered that my ring finger takes the longest to warm up. Should I be worried? :)

This was a common resting state for me. The tips dark and the rest light. It almost looks a bit tricolor here with a red band separating the two colors. I really love how this looks...

In the warm state it is a beautiful rose pink. I had a difficult time capturing this state because I was cold while trying to swatch (or maybe I'm just cold blooded). No amount of warming my hands up seemed to help. You can see the tips of the index and pinkie nails starting to turn here...

So beautiful...

Serum No 5 Yule Light Up My Life
An incredible mix of over 30 different glitters in a clear, glow in the dark base. This polish is two in one for me. It is a powerful glitter bomb that can be layered over any base for a beautiful manicure during the day. At night it glows brilliantly in the dark. I used two coats over Lacquer Lust Ho Ho Holodays! The application was very nice. It was easy to apply and get lots of glitter onto the nail. Swatches are with a top coat...

This is the first glow in the dark polish that I have encountered which actually lights up enough to show off the glitter it contains. It isn't quite this detailed in reality since the eyes can't focus as well as the camera does. The glow of this, however, is amazing!

I also layered this over Polished by KPT Naughty & Nice. This time I used just one generous coat of Yule Light Up My Life glitter over the base. Again, the glitter spread nicely over the nails and I love that there is no fishing needed to get the larger glitter out. Swatches are with a top coat...

Although I couldn't quite see this in reality, it seems to be picking up some of the base color resulting in a slightly pink tinted glow. I'm wonder if this is due to the fact that I used one coat instead of two for this manicure. At two coats, as I showed above, it was glowing white...

Sunday Stamping: Plate Ending in Eight...

Sunday, August 4, 2013
It has been weeks since the last time I participated in a Sunday Stamping challenge in Adventures in Stamping. I missed lots of fun challenges while waiting for my nails to grow out and I'm really excited to be back to stamping. The theme for today is to use a plate ending in the number eight. Leave it to me to come back on an easy challenge...

I started out this manicure with a base of Nicole by OPI How Fairy Nice of You! from the Tink Collection. It is a pale pink cream, lighter than what you see in the photo below. I then added two coats of InDecisive Ichor in purple. When warm it is almost completely clear with just a touch of purple tint to it. When cold it turns a gorgeous purple which you see in the photo above. I stamped it with a delicate floral pattern from Bundle Monster plate BM-308 using Essence Stamp Me! White.

Somewhere in between cold and warm, when the fingers are warming up after their icy cold bath for photos, you can see all the pretty transitions from light to dark purple. Truly a gradient in a bottle...

I tried to make a video of it changing color, but apparently that requires pressing the record button which I somehow failed to do. Having a real dumb moment I guess.

I am so head over heels in love with Ichor! I will have full swatches without the stamping of this and two other Ichor shades to show you soon! Maybe I'll even manage to record a video at that time :D

P.S. You can find this and other Ichor shades in the InDecisive Nail Lacquer Etsy store...
