InDecisive Nail Lacquer Harvest! (plus a Giveaway)

Thursday, November 14, 2013
I have a really special polish to show you today. It is a custom lacquer created for me by Aleksandra of InDecisive Nail Lacquer. I had mentioned to her my recent fascination with small circle glitter and she responded with a most generous offer to create a shade for me. I truly don't know what I did to deserve her kindness and I'm so honored to present to you InDecisive Nail Lacquer Harvest...

The polish was inspired by the beautiful colors of Fall foliage. Aleksandra did a fantastic job of creating this shade and making it just as I had envisioned it. I learned so much from her in the process and I will always treasure the experience.

I decided to carry the foliage theme through into my nail art to compliment the color. I wanted something bold enough to stand out against the glitter without covering up too much of it. Determined to keep practicing my freehand nail art, I painted the leaves and a friendly little hedgehog using acrylic paints.

I'm really excited about how this manicure turned out. Little by little I'm gaining confidence in freehand nail art. It is definitely more time consuming for me, but so worth it...

InDecisive Harvest is a pale yellow crelly (cream + jelly) base filled with yellow, orange, red and dark purple glitter in various shapes and sizes. It has a nice formula which is easy to work with. I used three thin coats to get maximum glitter and allow layers underneath to show through. Swatches are with a top coat...

The heavier circle glitter does settle to the bottom over time so I suggest storing the bottle upside down. I didn't have to fish for glitter, there was lots of it on the brush. It is easiest to use light brush strokes which leave the glitter in place. Heavy strokes will take the larger glitter right off the nail...

InDecisive Nail Lacquer - Ichor

Wednesday, August 14, 2013
Today I have a post for you that is a few months overdue! I delayed swatching these thermal beauties after breaking my nails so I'm super excited to finally be able to show them to you now. Ichor is a thermal color changing topper by InDecisive Nail Lacquer that is available in blue, purple, red and black. They can be layered over different base colors to create fun effects. I chose to layer them over white to show their "purest" form. I couldn't help but wear each of them for a day or two while swatching. They are just so fun...

Ichor Blue is sheer with just a hint of blue tint when warm and transitions to a bright baby blue when cold. It applies smoothly with no problems. I used two coats over Wet 'n Wild French White Cream. It dries with a slight satin finish, so I used a top coat for these swatches...

Icy cold...

Ahh, so warm...

I chose to layer this with another InDecisive beauty named Speckled White. Although it is summer outside, doesn't this look like the perfect winter wonderland? I can just picture it with some snowy white trees on there...

Ichor Purple is sheer with a touch of lavender tint when warm and transitions to a vibrant medium purple when cold. Formula is the same in all three of these Ichor shades, smooth and easy to apply. I used two coats over white plus a top coat for these swatches. This also dries with a satiny finish on it's own...

Brrr, so cold...

Warming back up!...

I wore this beauty with InDecisive Antique which is comprised of sterling silver flakes in a clear base. Love this one...

Ichor Red is similar to the two above. It is sheer with an ever so slight pink tint when warm and transitions to a dark pink when cold. Application is nice and smooth. I used two coats over white plus added a topcoat since it dries with a satiny finish...

Frost bite setting in...

Warm at last...

I combined this with InDecisive Speckled Black for what turned out to be my favorite combination! I did not want to take this off...

I mentioned that these Ichor shades can easily be layered over different base colors, so here is a sample of what I'm talking about...

Left to right: Ichor Red layered over white as you've seen above, Ichor Red over pink (Barielle Pink Flip-Flops), Ichor Purple over minty green (Barielle Mint Ice Cream Cone), Ichor Blue over seafoam green/blue (Barielle Ocean Breeze)...

I think my favorite is the minty green to purple color change above. I will definitely have to experiment with other layering combos...

Sunday Stamping: Plate Ending in Eight...

Sunday, August 4, 2013
It has been weeks since the last time I participated in a Sunday Stamping challenge in Adventures in Stamping. I missed lots of fun challenges while waiting for my nails to grow out and I'm really excited to be back to stamping. The theme for today is to use a plate ending in the number eight. Leave it to me to come back on an easy challenge...

I started out this manicure with a base of Nicole by OPI How Fairy Nice of You! from the Tink Collection. It is a pale pink cream, lighter than what you see in the photo below. I then added two coats of InDecisive Ichor in purple. When warm it is almost completely clear with just a touch of purple tint to it. When cold it turns a gorgeous purple which you see in the photo above. I stamped it with a delicate floral pattern from Bundle Monster plate BM-308 using Essence Stamp Me! White.

Somewhere in between cold and warm, when the fingers are warming up after their icy cold bath for photos, you can see all the pretty transitions from light to dark purple. Truly a gradient in a bottle...

I tried to make a video of it changing color, but apparently that requires pressing the record button which I somehow failed to do. Having a real dumb moment I guess.

I am so head over heels in love with Ichor! I will have full swatches without the stamping of this and two other Ichor shades to show you soon! Maybe I'll even manage to record a video at that time :D

P.S. You can find this and other Ichor shades in the InDecisive Nail Lacquer Etsy store...

Mermaid...

Tuesday, June 25, 2013
Today I would like to show you a show you a mermaid manicure which was inspired by the beautiful InDecisive Mermaid glitter. I love the beautiful teal shade over green and it really made me wish to create a manicure around it...

For the manicure I used a base of Barielle Head of the Class Green followed by InDecisive Mermaid. I stamped the mermaid and bubbles from an Ebay plate m72 (a knockoff plate of Konad m34) and the shells from Winstonia plate W108 using Pure Ice Silver Mercedes...

I really like how sweet and simple this looks. I wanted to avoid obscuring the glitter too much...

Crack and Burn...

Saturday, June 22, 2013
I would like to show you some nail art that I created while swatching InDecisive Nal Lacquer last week. I was captivated by Antique for the name and the beautiful silver flakies. For some reason, it made me think of DIY distressed furniture so I really wanted to distress the tips of the manicure. The look was inspired by a Nailartitudesdeclaire manicure which I spotted on Pinterest a few days prior. In comparison with the delicate manicure of Nailartitudesdeclaire, I'm a fairly heavy handed when it comes to free hand nail art. As you can see, rather than a gentle distressing, I ended up with "burnt" tips, but I love it...

I used one coat of InDecisive Antique over Barielle Straight A Coral for my base. The rest was added using black acrylic paint, a sponge and a small paint brush....

I've done flame manicures before, but this is the first "after the fire" manicure and I can't wait to do more...

I'd love to know what you think of this!
