Zoya Satins Collection Swatches and Review

Thursday, August 29, 2013
Today I would like to show you the Zoya Satins Collection which consists of five beautiful metallic shades and one flakie topper. This is the second half of Zoya's Fall collection. The first half named Cashmeres can be seen in yesterday's post and contains six gorgeous creams. These metallic shades remind me of brilliant gemstones such as topaz, amethyst, sapphire and emerald...

Channing
A burnt cooper orange metallic. This color is just Fall perfection, reminiscent of falling leaves. Formula is very nice and easy to work with. Two coats provides full coverage as I have in these swatches. No top coat...

Mason
A deep violet metallic. It has beautiful tiny glass flecks sprinkled in which are best seen in the closeup photo. In the bottle it has a bit of a duochrome shift to copper, but it was hard to capture on the nail. Very nice formula which is fully opaque in two coats. Swatches are with no top coat...

Maria Luisa (over Mason)
Sheer yellow and champagne gold flakes in a clear base. I think it works best as a topper for a beautiful sparkle. I attempted this on it's own, but since the flakes themselves are somewhat sheer, even at four coats it did not provide good coverage. The flakes spread evenly on the nail and there is plenty of them in each brushstroke. I used just one coat over Mason for these swatches, with a top coat...

Claudine
A dark gunmetal gray metallic. My love for gray polish continues on! This is definitely a favorite of mine from this collection. It is very pigmented and you can probably get away with just one coat. I used my standard two for these swatches. They formula is perfect, very easy to apply. No top coat here...

Neve
A dark sapphire blue metallic. Another beauty in this collection. It has a very subtle hint of purple and bright blue shimmer magic sprinkled in. Two coats provides full coverage and the formula is again very easy to use. Happy to report that there was no staining for me with this blue. Swatches are with no top coat...

Giovanna
A deep emerald green metallic. The formula on this one is a bit sheer and patchy on the first coat, but completely evens out and provides great coverage with the second coat. Beautiful bright shimmer in this one that was freaking my camera out. Swatches are with no top coat...

Avoiding Fall While Embracing the Colors...

Saturday, August 24, 2013
So I admit it, I am nowhere near ready for Fall to get here, but I am starting to get into the Fall colors. It could be due to all the pretty Fall collections that I have started to swatch. Stay tuned for lots and lots of swatches to come. Today though, I would like to show you a manicure that really hits the spot for my current color mood...

The manicure started out with Nicole by OPI Fairy Fairy Quite Contrary, a bright carrot orange cream. To add some sparkle, I topped it off with Shimmer Carmen. Stamping was done using Maybelline Bold Gold and Cheeky stamping plate CH7...

A contrasting rhinestone to finish off the look...

Shimmer Carmen is a mix of orange, gold and holographic glitter of various shapes and sizes in a clear base. I love the way it compliments the orange although next time I will need to try it over something more contrasting to show the glitter better. As usual, the holographic glitter is being camera shy, but it truly sparkles in real life. I used one generous coat of Carmen of my orange bast. The formula is very nice and there is a good amount of glitter and distribution with each brush stroke. Swatches are with a top coat...

OPI Euro Centrale 2013 Collection - Part 2

Wednesday, February 20, 2013
Today I have the rest of the OPI Euro Centrale collection to share with you. If you missed the first half of the swatches, you can see them here. Despite some light colors in the mix, this half of the collection strikes me as the darker, moodier half. Of course that is just fine by me since I'll take a dark vampy cream any day of the week or season...

Hands Off My Kielbasa! - "Get your own...this bronzy tan is all mine!"
A metallic-y tan with a bronze shimmer. Application is good, slight brushstrokes are visible, but the OPI brush really makes it easy to apply. I used two coats with no top coat for these swatches...

OY–Another Polish Joke! - "So this shimmery-gold walks into a bar..."
A clear base with small yellow gold flakes. Could it be? A bottle filled with the little gold flakes that I love so much especially when mixed with just about any shade. It is sheer on it's own and the nail line is still visible as seen here at three coats. Despite the visible nail line I think it can be worn alone since it is very sparkly and distracting in real life. I also suspect it would look great layered, but I have yet to test that theory...

A Woman’s Prague-ative - "I’m changing this shimmery copper for...never mind!"
A mix of cooper and gold flecks. Overall the polish looks cooper, but at some angles more of the gold comes out. Great formula and very easy to work with. It is opaque at two coats, but I use three to get the full deep color. What can I say other than I'm a sucker for polishes like this...

Vant to Bite My Neck? - "You know you want to...wear this deep eggplant."
A rich, dark vampy plum cream. This is very pigmented and nearly opaque at one coat. The formula is smooth and applies very easily. I used two coats to even out the coverage. Swatches are with no top coat...

I Saw…U Saw…We Saw…Warsaw - "Be seen in this deep midnight blue."
A deep dark blue cream. Formula is similar to Vant to Bite My Neck?. It is very pigmented and nearly opaque at one coat, however, I still used two for these swatches. The formula is very creamy and smooth. No problems with applications. Swatches are with no top coat...

My Vampire is Buff - "Creamy, pale and nude...just how I like my vampires."
A soft ivory cream. Very delicate and pretty. I applied with light strokes to avoid streaks, otherwise the formula is very nice and creamy. Full coverage in two coats! Yay! This is my absolute favorite from this half of the collection. I can guarantee you'll be seeing nail art with this one sooner rather than later! No top coat for these swatches...
