Coffee Time!

Friday, October 18, 2013
I would like to show you this yummy coffee manicure that I wore a while ago, but didn't get a chance to post about until now. I'm hoping this coffee manicure will perk me up since I've been really tired lately...

This manicure started out with the OPI Liquid Sand It's All San Andreas's Fault. I stamped over it using Maybelline Bold Gold (70) and Pueen plates Pueen30 and Pueen32. The cup is stamped from plate 30 and the rest of the nails are stamped using plate 32. The pattern reminds me of cafe curtains and the dots just coordinate so perfectly with the dots on the cup. I added a bit of "steam" above the cup using that pattern as well.

I added a few gold stud accents to fit into the stamping pattern...

I really need to hide this gold polish from myself because I'm tempted to stamp EVERYTHING with it! I keep reaching for it every time and that's bad. OK, maybe not bad, but I do need to diversify. I just can't help it, gold looks great with everything... ;)

On a serious note... does this manicure make my fingers look fat? Maybe I put too much sugar in my coffee? ;)

Let me know what you think of this manicure! I love reading your comments! :)

Thanks for looking!

Purse Inspired...

Tuesday, October 8, 2013
I broke a few nails and so I am down to shorties right now and not feeling too artsy, but that finally gives me the chance to show you a manicure that I did a while back and didn't get a chance to post. This was inspired by a photo of a purse that I somehow stumbled across online...

(source for purse image)
To create this manicure, I started out with a base of OPI A-Piers to be Tan on all nails except for the pinkie where I used OPI Don't Pretzel My Buttons. I stamped the pinkie using Gals plate GA8 and A-Piers to be Tan. For the flower on the ring finger I used OPI First Date at the Golden Gate and acrylic paint....

Yeah, my freehand could really use some help and practice, but I'm really proud of myself for trying more of it. Someday my lines will hopefully be cleaner and smoother, but I'm happy with this for now. I really like how the flower turned out...

Let me know what you think of this manicure! I love reading your thoughts on it!

P.S. You can also come say hello to me on Instagram and tell me what you think of my manis... @wackylaki

Barielle Sophisticated Lady Collection Swatches and Review

Tuesday, October 1, 2013
Today I would like to show you swatches of the Barielle Sophisticated Lady collection. This is the second of the Fall collections by Barielle. Although both of the collections contain the creamy brown named In Good Taste, that is where the similarities end. The first collection, Nude&Naughty, contains soft neutral shades while this one is darker and moodier....

Edgy
A deep plum cream. A gorgeous Fall shade that has a nice smooth formula. It is opaque in two easy coats. Swatches are with no top coat...

London High Tea
A blush rose cream with a gold shimmer. This is my surprise favorite out of the collection. I was ready to fall for the dark shades, but the pretty shimmer really caught my attention. Three coats provides great coverage as seen in these swatches. No top coat used here...

Dinner at 8
A darkened red crelly. This color is classic and for some reason always makes me think of secretaries with pretty red nails. It gives good coverage at three coats and is very shiny due to the jelly aspect of the formula. Applies evenly with no streaking. Swatches are with no top coat...

Barielle Nude & Naughty Collection Swatches and Review

Monday, September 30, 2013
Today I would like to share with you the new Barielle Nude & Naughty collection released this Fall. The collection features five beautiful neutral shades...

In Good Taste
A chocolate brown cream. This has a very nice, smooth formula that applies very easily. It is a bit thinner than the usual Barielle creams which was quite nice. It is opaque in two coats as seen below. Swatches are with no top coat...

Very Bare
A sheer pale pink crelly. It applies nicely and is not streaky. Three coats gives pretty good coverage as seen in these swatches. The nail line is still slightly visible. It is a very pretty soft shade. I still have a weak spot for these types of polishes. Swatches are without a top coat...

Number of coats: 3
Top Coat: No

No Not Now
A rosy brown cream with a slight hint of shimmer. I didn't even notice the shimmer in the bottle, but it looks very pretty on the nail and softens the look. It is fairly sheer and needed three coats for full coverage. No top coat in these swatches...

Pillow Talk
A sheer beige crelly. This is similar in formula to Very Bare, it is sheer, but applies smoothly without streaking. Three coats provides good coverage with just a slightly visible nail line. This is pretty close to my 'manikin' shade. I really like it. Swatches are with no top coat...

Number of coats: 3
Top Coat: No

I Got a Headache
A sheer dusty brown jelly with a copper shimmer. This is probably my favorite shade out of this collection. I love the dusty grayish haze that seems to cover the whole thing and the copper shimmer is just gorgeous. Three coats provides full coverage. No top coat used for this manicure...

Overall I really like these neutral shades.

I just keep thinking... with names like No Not Now and I Got a Headache, maybe the collection should be called Nude&Not Very Naughty ;)

Thanks for looking!

Tawdry Terrier Autumn in the Barkshires Select Shades...

Tuesday, September 24, 2013
Today I would like to show you a swatches of a few shades from the Tawdry Terrier Autumn in the Barkshires Fall collection. Tawdry Terrier is a new indie polish brand which launched this Summer and I'm very excited to get the chance to try them out. Tawdry Terrier lacquers are handmade, Big5Free and cruelty free...

Harvest Moon Possum Hunt
A shimmery brown with gold holographic glitter sprinkled in. It has a very nice formula and was easy to apply. Two coats provide full coverage as you see below. The photos don't quite capture the sparkle of this. It does dry a bit gritty with the glitter, so a good layer of top coat is needed. I really love this this one...

Howling at the Moon
A shimmery blue with silver holographic glitter. The formula on this one is similar to the one above, very easy to work with and apply. Two coats provide complete coverage. This also dries slightly gritty due to the glitter, but nothing that a good top coat can't take care of. I'm a fan of blue so this is a definite winner in my book. Once again the photos don't do enough to show off the beautiful sparkle of the glitter...

Poke-A-Nose Purple
A shimmery purple with purple, orange and red hex glitter. It has great distribution of glitter in each brush stroke and is easy to apply. At one coat, it was perfect, but as I started layering multiple coats it began looking lumpy. I'm not sure if this is because of the way the shimmer reflects the light, but I couldn't get it looking smooth. Next time I will try layering one coat of it over a similar purple base because I love the color and the glitter and I just saw these pretty layered swatches by Icy Nails and it looks beautiful layered. I have three coats of the polish here...
