Zoya PixieDust Collection for Spring 2013

Thursday, March 14, 2013
Have you joined the textured polish bandwagon yet? I sure have! That is why I'm so excited to show you my swatches of six Zoya PixieDust shades for the Spring collection. I find the texture so fascinating and different that when I wear them, I can't stop looking at or touching the nails. It seems to have that effect on others as well since I've had people both stare and touch my nails as I was wearing these...

All of the PixieDust shades have a similar great formula and application. They apply easily just as any regular glitter polish and slowly dry to their textured and matte finish. It takes approximately the same time as regular polish to feel dry to the touch, but does take longer to dry completely. I let each one dry for about an hour before taking photos, although I feel that the effect got even stronger if I let them dry longer than that. That certainly doesn't make for a very quick swatching session, but it did give me a great excuse to wear and enjoy these. They are meant to be worn with no base or top coat which is exactly how I wore them...

Dahlia - "Black Beauty sparkle"
Black base with silver glitter and sparkle. Absolutely gorgeous, I can't get enough of this one. Opaque at two coats...

Chyna - "Red Dazzle sparkle"
Deep red base with red glitter and sparkle. While all the other PixieDust shades have silvery glitter/sparkle embedded in them, this is the only one that has glitter in the same color as the base. I absolutely love it! Think ruby slippers... Only strange thing was that the red color on the glitter rubbed off. I was left with small areas of just silver glitter at the very tips, after one day of wear. It is opaque at two coats...

Vespa - "Mint Kiss sparkle"
Minty green base with silvery glitter and sparkle. This reminds me of rock candy. So sweet! Three coats for almost full opacity. Four coats probably would have been ideal, but it was taking way too long to dry, so I re-swatched with three coats...

Nyx - "Perfect Periwinkle sparkle"
Light blue base with silver glitter and sparkle. This is similar to Vespa in that four coats probably would have been better, but I ended up using three for swatching and wearing to avoid lengthening the dry time...

London - "Fog Gray sparkle"

Removing PixieDust lacquers requires a little more scrubbing than a cream or shimmer polish, but definitely less than a glitter. No foil required here! I am very pleased with how easy it is to remove these...

Six PixieDust colors not enough for you? These can be layered to achieve different fun color combinations...
Also, I hear there will be six more bright little PixieDust beauties just in time for summer. I'll post the press release later on today...

What are your thoughts on these?

Thanks for looking and commenting!
