World Autism Awareness Day!

Tuesday, April 2, 2013
Today is Wold Autism Awareness Day with the Light it Up Blue campaign to raise awareness. Although I meant to post this earlier in the day, hopefully it better late than never. I would like to show you how I lit up my nails blue in support of the great cause...

The base of the manicure is the China Glaze Holographic Sci-Fly By. I will have swatches of it alone to share soon. Right now I'm working on swatching the rest of the collection. I stamped the puzzle pieces using Cheeky Jumbo plate A and the puzzle heart using Bundle Monster plate BM-321. The stamping was done using OPI I Saw...U Saw...We Saw...Warsaw...

Sunday Stamping: With an Accent Nail

Sunday, January 20, 2013
It is once again time for a Sunday Stamping challenge in the group Adventures in Stamping. This week's theme is a stamping manicure that includes an accent nail. I have been trying to think of something really clever and creative to show you for this challenge and came up with nothing. Funny thing though, inspiration often comes when you least expect it, so as I was playing around with the new Nicole by OPI shade, I got the urge to do an argyle print and just went with it...

On all but the ring finger I have the base of Nicole by OPI Plum to Your Senses! It is a dark dark purple shade with a gorgeous shimmer, which unfortunately doesn't show at all in these photos :(. I will show better swatches soon. Over this I stamped using Sally Hansen Color Quick pen in Pink Chrome using Cheeky Jumbo plate A. For the ring finger I just reversed the colors, base with Pink Chrome and stamping with Plum to Your Senses!...

While Plum to Your Senses! did stamp well enough to create a good image, it was a bit to thin/runny to work consistently. I had to go back with a small detail brush and fill in a few of the diamonds that didn't transfer properly. It obviously also stamps much lighter than the bottle color. On the plus side, it shows off the pretty plum base that is kind of lost in the darkness of the other nails...

The Sally Hansen chrome pens stamp absolutely perfectly. The brush, however, leaves a lot to be desired. While it is okay for applying polish to the stamping plate, it was a pain in the behind to apply as a base to the ring finger. I wish there was a way to transfer the polish to a little bottle. I also wouldn't worry so much about it drying out that way...

Reminds me of a nice cozy sweater!
Have you tried stamping with the chrome pens?
