Barielle Nude & Naughty Collection Swatches and Review

Monday, September 30, 2013
Today I would like to share with you the new Barielle Nude & Naughty collection released this Fall. The collection features five beautiful neutral shades...

In Good Taste
A chocolate brown cream. This has a very nice, smooth formula that applies very easily. It is a bit thinner than the usual Barielle creams which was quite nice. It is opaque in two coats as seen below. Swatches are with no top coat...

Very Bare
A sheer pale pink crelly. It applies nicely and is not streaky. Three coats gives pretty good coverage as seen in these swatches. The nail line is still slightly visible. It is a very pretty soft shade. I still have a weak spot for these types of polishes. Swatches are without a top coat...

No Not Now
A rosy brown cream with a slight hint of shimmer. I didn't even notice the shimmer in the bottle, but it looks very pretty on the nail and softens the look. It is fairly sheer and needed three coats for full coverage. No top coat in these swatches...

Pillow Talk
A sheer beige crelly. This is similar in formula to Very Bare, it is sheer, but applies smoothly without streaking. Three coats provides good coverage with just a slightly visible nail line. This is pretty close to my 'manikin' shade. I really like it. Swatches are with no top coat...

I Got a Headache
A sheer dusty brown jelly with a copper shimmer. This is probably my favorite shade out of this collection. I love the dusty grayish haze that seems to cover the whole thing and the copper shimmer is just gorgeous. Three coats provides full coverage. No top coat used for this manicure...

Overall I really like these neutral shades.

I just keep thinking... with names like No Not Now and I Got a Headache, maybe the collection should be called Nude&Not Very Naughty ;)

31DC2013 Day 15 - Delicate Print

Sunday, September 15, 2013
I can't believe it is already Day 15 of the 31 Day Nail Challenge. It seems to be flying by so quickly and we are about to get into the really challenging portion. Today's challenge calls for a delicate print manicure. I instantly thought of lace at the mention of delicate and decided to play around with stamping. As my latest obsession seems to be stamping over textured polish, I couldn't resist including this PixieDust in my manicure...

I started out with a base of Zoya Tomoko from the Fall collection. When it was all dry, I stamped the lace and rose patterns from Bundle Monster plate BM-323 using Essence Stamp Me! Black. I can't help but go to this rose pattern time and time again! It is definitely one of my favorites from the 3rd Bundle Monster set. I accented the ring finger with a few black studs that I purchased on Ebay...

Let me know what you think of this manicure in the comments section below!

Zoya Cashmeres Collection Swatches and Review

Wednesday, August 28, 2013
I am so not ready, but it is time to show you some beautiful Fall collections. Starting today with the Zoya Cashmeres collection. It contains six cream shades that are perfect for the upcoming season. Did I mention I'm not ready for Fall yet? I've already showed you my nail art with a few of these and trust me, you'll be seeing more of them...

Livingston
A deep red jelly. Not the most unique color, but it is very sexy and pinup-y in my opinion. It is easy to apply but the jelly formula is a bit thin and needs three coats to reach full opacity as seen in these swatches. The first coat looks very bright, but it deepens as the second and third coats are added. Swatches are with no top coat...

Pepper
A brick red cream. It has a rich and creamy formula that provides complete coverage in two coats. My bf called this a rotted cherry color and commented how much he likes it. I would have to agree, it is a beautiful color and it get bonus points in my book for impressing my bf. Swatches are with no top coat...

Hunter
A slightly dusty deep forest green cream. The formula on this is good and provides great coverage at two coats. It is one of my favorites from this collection. No top coat used for these swatches...

Sailor
A slightly dusty navy blue cream. This is my favorite from this collection. I've been drawn to blues more than usual lately and this really calls out to me. The formula is perfect and creamy. Is is very pigmented and you can probably get away with just one coat, but I used my minimum two coats for these swatches. No top coat..

Flynn
A beige or light brown cream. Nice creamy formula that is easy to work with on this one. It is opaque in two coats. Swatches are with no top coat. I have a strong association of the name Flynn to Flynn's Carpet Cents store in my neck of the woods. They used to have ads on TV and radio ALL the time! I can't hear that name without thinking about carpet now. Funny enough, Zoya's Flynn is just a bit darker than the carpet in my house, so yeah... Carpet talk aside though, it is a pretty color and I used it in my feather manicure not too long ago...

Louise
A dark chocolate brown cream. This also has a perfect smooth and creamy formula. It provides great coverage in two coats. In certain light it has a greenish tint which I don't find most appealing, but majority of the time it is this beautiful delicious brown. I've already used it for this hexy manicure as well as for stamping in the feather manicure. Yes, it stamps well! No top coat in these swatches...

Matzah Nail for Passover!

Monday, March 25, 2013
Happy Passover!

Happy Passover to those of you who celebrate it! This weekend, I got a gentle reminder from my friends that I should do a manicure for the occasion and matzah nails was strongly suggested. I got the hint and knew exactly who to turn to for inspiration. Last year 10 Blank Canvases created her matzah nails for Passover and I knew that I wanted to try and recreate the look. Luckily, she created an easy matzah nails tutorial which I followed (for the most part)...

I started out with a base of Zoya Jacqueline which was the best match color wise for matzah in my collection. The rest was done using acrylic paint. I used black, tan and a mix of the two. I wish I had a better brown to work with, but my acrylic color palate is limited at the moment...

I didn't want shiny matzah, so I did top them off with Essie Matte About You...

Yummy! The tips look a bit charred, but considering this was my first time making matzah I'm pretty happy with how they turned out...

My light box is now full of matzah crumbs, but it is a small price to pay for working with props...
